Though originally from Switzerland he now makes New York City his home where I (Corey) have had the great fortune of meeting him, birding with him, and photographing wildlife with him. I know just that kind of place near my hometown in northwest Switzerland, a gorge that cuts through the southernmost range of the Jura Mountains.

Some lovely and touristy cities of Western Europe are justly proud of their cathedral Peregrines (Barcelona, Norwich, Bristol), even London (which has its charms, but is far from lovely) – why not Belgrade (isn’t proud, I mean)? It is a series of shots of Greater Scaup flying out of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge’s West Pond, of which the image that includes Red-breasted Mergansers is the most interesting. The other post is Jochen’s tale of trying to find a Lesser Scaup in Europe. One post is one I wrote seven years ago.
