I have caught a bus across Europe, but I can’t really claim to have “been” to Germany or Belgium. I slept in hotel in Zurich but didn’t leave the airport or even clear immigration, so I can’t really say I’ve been to Switzerland either.

David Tomlinson If you are American then you will no doubt know Perdix perdix as the Gray Partridge , an introduced game bird now widespread on the prairies of Canada and the northern states of the USA. The birds with the c**k Partridge are Yellowhammers , plus a c**k Pheasant. There are just a few areas left where it still thrives.

The other post is Jochen’s tale of trying to find a Lesser Scaup in Europe. Birders there had to invent games to make seeing a scaup interesting: Because of all the places it could have called its winter home, it chose the Rhine separating Huningue and Weil am Rhein, the border triangle of Switzerland, France and Germany.
