What’s Up with the ABA?

10,000 Birds

T]he Association had suffered net losses and has a net deficiency in net assets that raise substantial doubt as its ability to continue as a going concern.”. As I wrote in 2019 , the informational shortages that prompted the creation of the ABA no longer exist. If anything, birders confront too much information rather than not enough.

Birding Sukau, Sabah, Borneo

10,000 Birds

They look crap but presumably offer some protection for the chicks, though not from each other (see the murderous activities within the nests in my previous post ). Let me know -- any time! -- if you'd like assistance or more information.

Hal Herzog's "Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat"

Animal Person

He is an unabashed speciesist, putting humans on “a different moral plane from that of other animals” (11) due to various reasons, such as our “vastly greater capacity for symbolic language, culture, and ethical judgment” (11). He watched cockfighting and killed and skinned animals, but won’t eat veal.
