Birding Honduras–The Cryptic Birds

Honduras was finally a reality. Excellent 10,000 Birds posts have been written about Pico Bonito and Honduras by Corey and Carlos , so I’m going to focus on some of my most memorable experiences. Double-striped Thick-Knee nests are shallow depressions in the ground, with a typical clutch of two eggs. And lots of greenery.

The Green Iguana (Iguana iguana)

The biggest threats to their continued survival in the wilderness are habitat destruction and hunting, for both food and for the pet trade (though they are not considered in the least bit endangered). The female of the species lays ten to thirty eggs in a burrow she digs about 65 days after mating.
