I was going to change Animal Person to Vegan Atheist 40+ Parenting and come back to blogging. And of course, many self-identified vegetarians eat fishes and/or chickens. During the show they give out Good Egg Awards to kids who've performed "acts of kindness." A good egg is one that is edible. He laughed, but nervously.

There will be no pies or cakes that were made with milk that was meant for calves, or eggs that represent dead male chicks , forced molting, debeaking and other mutilations and cruelties. The two objections to a vegan Thanksgiving that I hear most often are: It's our tradition and Because it tastes good. It's our tradition.

There is one horrifying scene where the young woman in Nigeria is cleaning several live fish (at first I thought they were dead, but then they started moving) with detergent, because they are too filthy to eat. And if you know someone who still eats fish or anyone else from the sea, this is a fantastic book, as I don't recall anyone giving sea creatures the respect they deserve in a long time (and telling their audience the truth about their lives and deaths). N]o fish gets a good death. Not great, but good. He never says he is.
