Not sure why they spend time in Shanghai in winter when they could come here though, but then again, I usually do not understand most of the behavior of humans either. They look crap but presumably offer some protection for the chicks, though not from each other (see the murderous activities within the nests in my previous post ).

The Blue Whistling Thrush is presumably named for its loud human-like whistling, and possibly for being blue. The Crested Serpent Eagle is another species bound to suffer from a naming error in perpetuity. The Kalij Pheasant is not very good at denouncing typical avian gender stereotypes either. A worrying trend.

In the majority of cases, it is humans who are to blame for the plunging numbers of animals, and Corwin is very clear about the extent to which we have destroyed the world around us. This is irksome, as the premise is that we need to save the animals (and which ones is an interesting discussion) because we will suffer if they are gone.

As with Chinese male humans, having your own building is still vital to raising young. I wonder what Americans would think if, in a Wikipedia entry, a Bald Eagle would be illustrated using a photo taken at an Albanian zoo. One of the established ways to evaluate self-cognition in animals (including humans) is the mirror test.
