Best Bird of the Weekend (Second of September 2011)

The best birds of my weekend were Seahawks, Eagles, Falcons, Cardinals, And Ravens. There was the White Ibis in New Jersey , the Caspian Tern , the Buff-bellied Sandpiper , another White Ibis , this one in New York’s Orange County, a Bald Eagle , and a host of other birds.

Horus Aged Ales: Osprey’s Fresh Catch

Horus is named for the falcon-headed god of ancient Egyptian mythology, a sobriquet chosen in honor of Harrop’s father, an avid falconer. Peregrine Falcon , Merlin , and American Kestrel – I look forward to reviewing these if I can get my hands on them. Good birding and happy drinking!

Best Bird of the Year 2014

Patrick had many birds to choose from for his Best Bird of the Year but he chose a new species for him in Costa Rica, a real regional rarity: My BBOTY for 2014 goes to Hudsonian Godwit. This spectacular montane vulture reminds me more of a giant falcon as it cleaves the air on long wings.
