On the other hand, kids that don’t get the experience of having a pet early may become afraid of animals, especially if their parents don’t particularly care for animals. I got my first pets, mice and guinea pigs, when I was 8. Today I own 40 outdoor dogs and two more who live indoors!

. * In 2003, police in Warwickshire, England, opened a garden shed and found a whimpering, cowering dog. Geoff and the other sanctuary staff went to work with two aims to restore the dog to full health, and to win her trust. No-one remembers now how it began, but she started welcoming all Animal arrivals at the sanctuary.

Is what he did consciously to his pitbulls that much worse than what we do unconsciously to animals every day? Some of us forget that dogs are mere animals, and that animal mistreatment is as American as Apple iPods. Like Vick, most of us shamelessly abuse and kill animals.
