The guide covers over 650 species, most of the breeding birds in the United States (minus Hawaii) and Canada (like most guides with ‘North America’ in its title, it does not include Mexico or the Caribbean). I understand that the species accounts needed to be abbreviated, and the authors talk about this in the introduction.
