They would realize that wild owls fly silently through the night and grab unwary rodents, not unsuspecting packages of processed cow meat. That is, until the ducklings grow up, are released into a pond, and greet the local feral cat colony as long-lost relatives. In a perfect world, people would know better.

The Gap Between Wildlife and the Animal Rights Movement

It seems that these people, who purport to claim to care so much about animals, are completely ignorant of the existence of any animal life beyond horses, cows, pigs, chickens and turkeys. What I don’t understand is why animal rights organizations almost completely ignore wildlife.

There is a water trough for the dairy cows, but sometimes the Pacific Black Ducks take advantage of the trough! There is a family of feral foxes that I often encounter near Bennison Creek. I also often observe a pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles towards the hills on my left as I follow this section of trail. Pacific Black Ducks.
