Since I wanted to buy some genuine tastes of Costa Rica, we continued to C.A.T.I.E. campus gardens – the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Centre, located 3 km east of the town of Turrialba. This equates to a decline of 99% over three generations for Nicaragua and Costa Rica (IUCN 2019).

Our second week here in Costa Rica has certainly seen a great increase in the amount of rain. We were able to get in about 2 hours with Abner the next day, before heading off to the southern end of Costa Rica. Costa Rica species – 273. here again, we wanted the pertinent information.

Tommy Thompson Park Bird Research Station in Toronto had an extremely rare and beautiful Townsend’s Warbler x Black-throated Gray Warbler which was banded in April. 2012 was one of my best years for birding in Costa Rica. I even managed to shoot a video with hands trembling of excitement, probably a first of the species.

During October, 7 countries (Costa Rica, Australia, USA, India, Hong Kong, UK, Serbia) were birded by 11 beats who shared 135 checklists and noted 697 species.
