Image via Wikipedia I found The Goode Family disappointing on the vegan side. Another opportunity for infiltration (heh, heh, heh) has presented itself on Intent.com , which has a " Food and Nutrition " page that already has posts about mindful eating and vegetarianism. Yeah, lots of mockery, but I didn't laugh. Maybe it's me.

There is a general consensus that vegetarianism and veganism are different philosophically. And that means for the animal rights movement: Social entities like compassion, empathy and suffering are very important factors to motivate humans to change their behaviour. How about this? I don't think it's one or the other.

I'm sure intelligence was in there somewhere, but the fact is that gorillas are presented as more important and more human than other animals, therefore they are worthy of saving. And the reverse is true: If parents are unaware, it should be no surprise that whatever compassion or sense of justice a child has is not nurtured.

Compassion like that almost makes one think that we should start shooting the 1 billion humans on the brink of starvation to provide them quick and relatively painless deaths rather than slow protracted ones.] To answer these questions, we need to reflect on what "necessary" means in the present context. They are alive and well.
