You need to get it to a wildlife rehabilitation center. Domestic animal shelters don’t normally take wildlife and if they do it’s rare. These animals support ecosystems all over the globe where there are c3 and c4 class grasses, but not enough people support them. It’s just not their function and against a few rules.

The mission of wildlife rehabilitators is to return injured birds to the sky, or the sea, or wherever it is they came from. Even those who were clearly on board only to earn relationship points, expose their children to nature, or checklist the Sights of Maine broke into grins. How could you not?
