Some guy in China thought the panda looked so cute , he jumped a fence to give it a hug. The panda was having none of it, and bit him on the arms and legs. Pity he didn't get an artery to make this fool a Darwin Award winner.

The Great Parrotbill recently unsuccessfully petitioned to be renamed to Giant Parrotbill, citing the panda example as proof of the benefits of having this name. While Giant Pandas are celebrated in today’s China, this was not always the case. Many Giant Pandas were sent to the countryside for reeducation.

I guess in China, there is always money for research related to Giant Pandas. One such study looked at the attention the pandas pay to different species, using eye-tracking technology. It turns out the pandas are not very interested in Golden Pheasants despite their position among the top 10 most beautiful bird species.
