There will be no greyhound corpse on our table, no turkey corpse and no pig corpse. When in the position of having the choice, which so far is always, I'd rather choose not to have someone killed for me. This is a tough one to even dignify as it's not a good reason for killing someone. But we can bring our story to that world.

Someone wrote me and, though the person clearly was trolling to insult someone, s/he accused me of not being a vegan because of greyhounds Violet Rays and Charles Hobson Booger, III (no mention of Emily, which made me feel terribly neglectful). mikey, my stance can be seen in the posts about Project Treadstone (and if you type Project Treadstone into the Google Search box just below my half-blind, diabetic greyhound, Violet Rays, on the right, you'll get a dozen more posts). And when the option is rounding them up and killing them, TNR looks like an especially attractive option.

Anyone have any luck walking a cat with a leash and harness? And then it proceeds to: "None of these questions, however, make any consideration of whether it is wrong to kill animals for human consumption." Legislation forbidding cruelty to animals represents the use of coercion against the interests of the individual coerced, and not to further the interests of any other person (it may do so but need not to be justified).

Some of these discussions make me think: Boy, that Rick Berman, that FBI, those people who spend their lives using and killing animals for fun and profit--don't need to do much to bring this movement down because we're doing it ourselves. And embarrassing. I understand the need for critique and productive criticism within a movement.

On a very quiet night during a lull in the drama of the ducks, I was researching the Greyhound racing industry, and seething over its treatment of dogs as well as the support it often gets, through subsidies, to help it survive. When I informed Dave of what Emily and I were doing, he reminded me that some frogs are fatally poisonous to cats.
