The meat industry is inherently destructive and inhumane, there is no way to make it otherwise, and much of the harm it does to ecosystems is by inflicting suffering and death on billions of nonhuman animals, farmed and free-living, each year. Many say you can’t eat meat and be an environmentalist.

Latimer's ignorance also comes across in his discussion of anti-fur campaigns, so it's easy to miss this potentially good point (about some animal activists): But did you ever notice that we don't hear very much from them if anything about shoe leather?

How fertility control might be applied to millions of possums, especially in the face of evidence that trap neuter and release campaigns for cats achieve nothing useful in denting the numbers of cats, is not answered by these groups in any way I can see. In New Zealand at least public opinion is generally behind 1080.
