This bird had just landed after doing its flight display in perfect light for me to get photographs but, of course, I butchered the opportunity. Yellow-breasted Chats are actually pretty easy to see in Carbon Canyon Regional Park. Western Gulls like their seafood the same way I do – very fresh and in large quantities.

Sure, it’s essentially a bland Red-eyed Vireo with a big bill but it was still a life bird and one that I didn’t want to miss! Lunch time!
