From Biteback: On the night of 21 November more than 100,000 salmon were liberated from two fish farms in northen Sweden. These two fish farms are a part of the huge Swedish fish farming industry that kills over 5 billion fish every year. A boat motor was also destroyed and some tires slashed. For the animals!

Black-tailed godwits winter in large numbers on the estuaries of both Norfolk and Suffolk, and we know that nearly all these birds breed in Iceland. In breeding plumage islandica godwits develop a deeper red plumage than their limosa cousins. They are of the race islandica , a sub species of the nominate race, limosa.

The chance that this was a real Turkey are not great, and the chance that Columbus actually brought breeding stock from Honduras to Spain is not great, so maybe, maybe not. Dates of first arrival listed by Schorger (1966) are: Italy 1520, Germany 1530, France 1538, England 1541, Denmark and Norway 1550, Sweden 1556.
