An Amazing Boat Ride from Santa Cruz Island to Ventura Harbor

The ride from Prisoner’s Harbor, where we had spent our day, to Scorpion Anchorage, was uneventful, though Desi did fall asleep and I did enjoy pretty good views of breeding-plumaged Pigeon Guillemots. We estimated at least 3,500 sooties and over 1,000 dolphins. Pigeon Guillemot Cepphus columba. It was amazing.

Royal Shags and Tricky Parakeets: Birding Queen Charlotte Sound

I went out with the morning sunrise tour and then came back with the wildlife tour in the afternoon, something they are prepared to do for birders who want to spend time on Blumine Island (if both tours are going anyway). They are breeding and expanding on the island and I can go back one day and know I have a chance of seeing them then.
