Rarer than Tigers: the Indian Wild Dog

We are observing a Dhole , also called Asiatic or Indian Wild Dog. A hundred metres down the track, several more Dholes await us, totalling eleven dogs. According to IUCN , because of illegal hunting and habitat degradation across most of Indochina, ungulates occur at levels well below natural.

And here I am now, avoiding the two barking dogs trying to bite my tires while I am driving through pre-dawn darkness towards the delta of the river Styx, or Acheron, as it is known today at the Ionian Sea coast of Greece.
