Birding Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo

So, like a football stadium named after an insurance company, the broadbill ended up bearing a name celebrating a sponsor. The Borneo-endemic Chestnut-crested Yuhina is a cooperative breeder – the vast majority of breeding pairs (97%) in a study conducted here at Mount Kinabalu had helpers. Must have been a camera fault.

The beautiful Red-bearded Bee-eater differs from most other bee-eaters in that it is not a colonial breeder but rather nests solitary or in pairs ( source ).
