The new Lifers are the Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Short-tailed Hawk, Mississippi Kites, Juniper Titmouse and Painted Buntings! There is believed to be a very small breeding population of Mississippi Kites that occupy a small area that borders Pima and Cochise Counties.

Old Crow Distillery Company: Old Crow

Old Crow is a bit harsher than your favorite top-shelf bourbon, but the flaws of this classic brand can be easily hidden in an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. By my reckoning, 500 miles up the Mississippi River as the steamboat goes only gets you as far as the Mississippi-Louisiana-Arkansas tripoint.

In publishing the most current thinking, eBird have become the month’s biggest contributor to the life list, expanding it by 7 brand new species and pushing it to 3774.
