Old Crow is a bit harsher than your favorite top-shelf bourbon, but the flaws of this classic brand can be easily hidden in an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. Though I have been birding for a few years now, I had only birded west of the Mississippi once before my recent trip to Austin, Texas. I didn’t realize how many new species I would see within the city itself! Again, they are fairly common in the Southwest and Mexico, but for me they felt brand new!

In publishing the most current thinking, eBird have become the month’s biggest contributor to the life list, expanding it by 7 brand new species and pushing it to 3774. 7 species were added to the life list in the time-honoured fashion of actually identifying the birds in the field. I just live for this stuff!
