The National Audubon Society Birds of North America covers all species seen in mainland United States, Canada and Baja California. The press material says it covers over 800 species, so you know I had to do a count.

The Urban Birds of Austin, Texas

I didn’t realize how many new species I would see within the city itself! We had seen a chicken or two so far on our walk, but it was hilarious to see this much larger domestic bird sitting between doves and starlings. Again, they are fairly common in the Southwest and Mexico, but for me they felt brand new!

Birding Longcanggou, Sichuan again (but maybe for the last time)

Shockingly, the Ashy-throated Parrotbill apparently is a species heavily hunted for bird fighting in Guizhou Province, China ( source ). The other is to mention that the name commemorates Edward Blyth (1810-1873), who published the first description of the species. However, instead of a tit joke, some wren pornography.
