It should surprise no one that someone brought horses, or goats, or chickens. There were no mammals, little game, and not many birds either. The reasons for this perceived lack of birds are threefold. Brush-tailed Possums were brought from Australia to help start a fur industry. But hedgehogs? Greenfinches?
