It is near a river, attracting some birds that like to eat wet food. As the national bird of Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, the African Fish Eagle is usually very busy whenever it stays in these countries, giving speeches, opening shopping centers, etc. This can lead to birds being poisoned.

A few years back, I birded northern Greece with a couple from Namibia. Nicolaas, who can see them back home any day commented that they are the most numerous wading birds in the world (the “most numerous” equaling “the least interesting”). Here comes the angry bird. Steven had no binoculars, but impressively sharp eyes and great knowledge of birds. Of those range states, opposed were South Africa, Namibia and, not surprisingly, Zimbabwe. Mopane trees can grow up to 18 m / 60 ft and interlock their canopies.
