One of my most memorable outings was a night-time game drive in Kenya when we saw an aardvark and a zorilla, so we ticked off both the first mammal in the field guide’s index, and the last. I’ve also sat for hours in unabated hides in Bulgaria where it’s a matter of luck whether you see a bear or not. They particularly like chocolate!)

Corwin tells the story of the Maasai of Kenya, whose culture involved disdain for and slaughter of lions. And of course that premise is only possible because the animals (and everything else on the planet) are our "resources." But again, he's a conservationist, so none of this is a surprise.
