Livingston, and on the dust jacket was a drawing of three Pine Grosbeaks ( Pinicola enucleator ) standing on a cone-bearing tree. To know birds is to value them; to value birds is to be devoted to their welfare. To accompany this review I have added two of my photos of my favourite bird family, the New world warblers.

It was Los Angeles, after all, where mileage has no bearing on time, but where time was precious for my little rescue on this crystal morning. There’s an imperative to get this message across to cat people who, like me, can be educated to value wild lives as much as we value the lives of our four-legged family members.

The economic downturn has had a profound effect on the financial welfare of families, many of whom have been forced to surrender their beloved pets to shelters. If you can sew, create a simple stuffed teddy bear for your pup. However, those same shelters report that donations are down by as much as 30%. Get creative!
