She doesn’t know the species till it emerges, almost dreamlike, from the heavy glare of the sun. Though the coast of British Columbia, a part of the Great Bear Rainforest, was rich in both, it was appallingly deficient in scientific data. Fox encounters 69 species, some singly, some in huge feeding or migrating flocks.

It is a deep intellectual and artistic exercise, which authentically captures my passion and emotion while watching birds. I sat for long hours along the road or on a mountain track, using my paint brushes and ink to catch the deep emotion and essence of those mountains, like in a Shanshui painting.
