Farallon NWR , a group of islands near San Francisco, hosts the largest colonies of breeding seabirds south of Alaska. The reason is twofold, size and mission. It’s not just for the birds.

When I was asked if I wanted to read Jeff Corwin's 100 HEARTBEATS (Rodale 2009) I was ambivalent.
