Happy Global Big Day from Costa Rica!

Last year, the Cornell Lab Of Ornithology had this really cool idea to get as many people counting as many birds as they could, in as many places as possible. This call to massive birding was known as the Global Big Day and it was meant to be the first of many GBDs to come. No, everyone should be out birding.

The Little Big Year 2018: Best Birds of the Year!

Over-all there were almost 80,000 photos taken, nearly 50 story’s posted on this website, and 10 countries, all with some amazing birds. In the end, I truly did set out to reduce the number of birds that I feature here from 1302, my years total species, down to 10-12. I present to you, my favorite birds of 2018.

Analogue vs. digital birding

Okay, this was a shorter distance observation, but even in such situations I love to see birds through the scope. I have an excellent scope – the very best piece of my birding equipment (oh, this year I should finally get a mobile phone adapter for it), and a rather inferior camera. Why should I sketch it, I am lousy at that.
