I love spiders, I've owned many snakes as pets, my favorite mammal is arguably the Opposum (I think they're so cute, whereas here in the south people hate them and dont understand their importance), bats, frogs, all animals really. I even have a greater affinity for the creepy-crawly types.

The Little Big Year-Week 44: Off to the islands ‘Mon

This fairly good sized piece of property is a mix of petting zoo, education center and rehabilitation center for birds and animals. This Black-throated Blue Warbler was a bird we missed while in Texas, so it was great to see one right off the bat! Here is one of those Ani’s sunning it’s self. L ittle Big Year species – 1280.

Birdmania at the Cano Negro Bird Count, Costa Rica

A female Snowy Cotinga , another canopy species, surprised us by swooping down low to feed on fruits at eye level while a Bat Falcon had breakfast on a snag, and a Wilson’s Snip e, a great find, burst into view from underfoot. White-ringed Flycatchers also sang as we approached the forest, a kiskadee-like bird that lives in the canopy.

Another paper reviews information on Oriental Pied Hornbills raiding the nests of various bird species in Singapore and even pet bird cages. Presumably, the species also not only eats fruit but also mammals and possibly birds –the HBW specifically mentions the species catching bats emerging from caves at dusk, and feeding them to juveniles.
