But researchers have now found evidence of a giant European bat that is plucking migrating birds out of the night sky. So this may not inform us much of what feral cats are doing.

They range from the successful eradication of feral cats from Marion Island (hear that, Corey?) We also got great views of a very small mammal, Wahlberg’s Epauletted Fruit Bat, at Satara. This one was in the parking lot of the Satara Rest Camp, where we stopped for lunch on the Northern Satara field trip. And, there were birds.

Centennial Park, Sydney

Rounding off the waterbirds were Australian Pelicans, Eurasian Coots , the iconic Black Swans and feral geese. These large fruit bats are something of a problem for the staff of the Sydeny Botanical Garden, whee they also roost and damage some of the trees, but they seem to be doing fine here.
