We walked along the coastal trail rather than along the promenade or beach, because that way we were sheltered from the fine drizzle that soon reached us. The birds were roosting on what rocky outcrops were available and were not keen to leave the protection of the taller rocks. West Gate Bridge from Sandringham. Mordialloc pier.

Well, basically it is a good area for putting a nest as there is ample food nearby and the dunes offer protection and good views of incoming predators. Here are some of the experiences of the Pied Oystercatcher chick on Cable Beach in the last 4 weeks. Why would Pied Oystercatchers been keen to use an area with all this activity?
