10,000 Birds
JUNE 11, 2013
Especially in the dry season, bands join together forming grazing herds, which can number up to 1,200 animals (although 500-600 is more normal.) Competition with domestic livestock has restricted some Gelada bands to poorer foraging on steep slopes. they are the most terrestrial primate after humans. Photo by Adam Riley.
