But one area that continues to provide them is the fight against the use of greyhounds as a source of entertainment (and gambling revenue) by forcing them to race. But voters called and e-mailed and sent letters to their legislators making sure that the original decision was preserved ! Here are a couple recent bits of good news.

In March of 2007 I wrote, " in a horribly-depressing vote of 198-138, New Hampshire's House voted AGAINST a bill that would shut down live racing at its three greyhound race tracks." Thanks to the folks at Grey2KUSA for their tireless efforts for greyhounds. Nearly two years later, one of the tracks closed. Not 80% better--80% lame.

This complaint is the result of proposed legislation to ban puppy mills in Ireland. Legislators are being contacted by people around the world to support the legislation. They are blaming the dastardly Green Party whose leader proposed the legislation. Tags: Ireland legislation puppy mills dogs.

I was thinking about the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary calendar of rescued animals photographed by Deb Durant that's on my refrigerator. It's on the refrigerator, but when you open the refrigerator door you'll see nothing that came from the animals in the calendar. I call my greyhounds sneaky activism opportunities.

As you may have heard ( here and here are two of Stephanie's posts on the matter), Rhode Island legislators were going to hold a special session to prevent Twin River from shutting down live racing. As is usually the case, the next step is legislation that actually bans dog racing in the state.
