Image via Wikipedia I found The Goode Family disappointing on the vegan side. Another opportunity for infiltration (heh, heh, heh) has presented itself on Intent.com , which has a " Food and Nutrition " page that already has posts about mindful eating and vegetarianism. Is The Goode Family Good for the Environment?

I immensely enjoyed "EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED" (even on the big screen) and eagerly anticipated "EATING ANIMALS" by Jonathan Safran Foer. Finally, if you know someone who gravitates toward the philosophical issues around our use of animals, this is a good book. He always refers to himself and his wife and his child as "vegetarian."

Others might argue that what is important is the level of the animal's evolutionary development, so that while it is acceptable to eat poultry one should abstain from the flesh of animals, or while it is acceptable to eat fish one should abstain from the flesh of warm-blooded animals.

Friends or family members who are not devoted to the environmental cause can become irritated by life choices they view as ostentatiously self-denying or politically correct. Problems arise when the individuals in the family (or couple) are at different points in their awareness of actions and purchases that affect the environment.

Vegan vegetarians who eat only vegetables, fruit, and nuts do not completely remove all microorganisms from their food, even with repeated cleaning.

My husband has two friends (a male/female couple) who are transitioning from vegetarian to vegan and I also have two friends (both women) who are transitioning from omnivore and all are dreading Thanksgiving. The conversations with family and friends have already begun about "Turkey Day." Not humans, not animals."

One of the reasons I do this is to see what others are saying about veganism (both good and bad), vegan food, their vegan friends and family members, and of course, about going vegan (I've already seen a handful of #in2010 references to going vegan). I'll be using his inspirational story as an example for my own friends and family.
