The nickel was placed in the nest for the photo to show me the size of the egg for identification purposes, then removed. Even though the female lays only two eggs per nest attempt, they enjoy a protracted breeding season in which multiple nesting attempts can occur every 30 days, and in Southern locations, nearly year round.

Scavenger or efficient hunter? King Eider are good sized birds, and powerful fliers So some Ravens here hunt and kill at least some of their food. When I related the story of it to him, he told me that a group of Ravens had recently started hunting Arctic Hares ( Lepus arcticus ) in the vicinity of our dump. How common is it?

He also had tigers, cougars, and some other animals. This almost certainly can be argued to be true just on the basis of logic, because feral Cats are proficient hunters and are entirely out of ecological place. This is approximated by the size of the animal, but really, this has to be adjusted for depending on modality of killing.

The quills of the “Saqu Ettair” Secretarybirds feed on small lizards, insects, rodents, birds eggs and, of course, snakes. Watching them hunt is fascinating. On several occasions I’ve seen animals that are making a beeline towards shelter double-back when the wings are spread straight into their waiting talons.

Is what he did consciously to his pitbulls that much worse than what we do unconsciously to animals every day? Some of us forget that dogs are mere animals, and that animal mistreatment is as American as Apple iPods. Like Vick, most of us shamelessly abuse and kill animals. None of us is pure.
