Famous ornithologist Ted Parker crashed into a mountain in Ecuador while surveying birds. It has all Big Five animals and a whole lot of other grumpy mammals. Having learned from my Namibian experience I walked away briskly. She died in a car accident during a birding trip. And so forth. It’s just the warm-up.

Birding the “Utterly Peaceful Moorland” – Sumapaz NP Colombia

One reason that I can think of for subjecting myself to such a torturous experience is if I am going birdwatching. I had just ended my ten-day birding adventure in Ecuador (which is a story for another time) when I decided, since I had an amazing time, to prolong my trip a bit longer before heading back to Europe. Ah, what the heck!

This included some birds as well as a fox.
