One complaint many of us have with "liberals" and "progressives" is that they tend to leave veganism and animal rights out of their sphere of concern.

To the Editor: Re “ PETA’s Latest Tactic: $1 Million for Fake Meat ” (news article, April 21): The commercial development of meat from animal tissue won’t result in “fake meat” any more than cloning sheep results in fake sheep. There is no happy ending for even the most humanely raised animal. We call ourselves vegetarians.

Hence the psychological continuum described (below) by Austria's Association Against Animal Factories from about a year ago. Why can't you talk about the right to freedom when you're showing a caged animal? ). How about this?

As someone who's about to have a one-year old in her life, I was particularly aware of the part animals play in the lives of the children and how animals are talked about. Also, the have families (as if other animals don't). All animals except the dog are called "it" (I did a little experiment to see what would happen).
