The RSPCA are trying to raise awareness of its urgent campaign to protect the welfare of UK meat chickens. Right now, the UK government is considering new EU legislation that may increase the number of chickens allowed in rearing sheds. It’s hard to walk or even flap their wings.

As the quarterly campaign finance period closed today, the YES! on Prop 2 campaign reports a tidal wave of voter and donor support from Californians backing the effort to stop the cruel and inhumane treatment of animals on industrial factory farms. It's from September 30, from the Humane Society. Chief economist? That's so cool!

He asked whether cows, chickens, sheep and some of the other animals that we eat are usually treated and killed in a humane manner. The meat industry will say yes, of course, all animals are treated and killed humanely. Livestock don’t contribute to campaigns, but agribusiness does. Factory animals are voiceless victims.

Latimer refers to his previous two posts where he has "documented the ethical and moral shallowness of the 'animal rights' credo itself, which is based more on an anti-human self hatred, taking the form of a 'moral' squeamishness concerned more with stamping out human 'cruelty,' no matter what the social or economic costs might be.

When he spends what seems like an eternity discussing cockfighting and the people who participate, mostly to set up the comparison to how the chickens we eat are treated and the lack of outrage over that, I respond, “What is wrong with you? The campaign to moralize meat has largely been a failure. You’re right, it is horrible!

David Scott (D-Ga), who is the chairman of the Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Subcommittee of the House Committee on Agriculture draws a line in the sand regarding the animals we use and how we use them.
