The European Parliament backed plans for an upper limit on the level of pain animals should endure and to increase EU efforts to develop non-animal alternatives, with 540 votes in favor and 66 against. Nothing, nothing makes me angrier than animal researchers. They have no qualms about what they do.

I occasionally read Scienceblog when there is mention of animal research issues. It's a site that, according to its own description, is half reader blogs and half press releases from research institutions. Here's the first of an apparent series by a blogger on why we need to do animal testing.part 1 - drug discovery!!!

They are considered an environmental pest because they are a non-native species that inflict ecological damage.but to deal with them this way is just unacceptable. Tags: animal experimentation animal research primates medical research.

Around 12 million animals are used each year in the European Union (EU) for research purposes. This became clear from a report addressed at the European Parliament (EP) session on May 5–7, which seeks to vote on a directive concerning animal research. I really hope this passes.
