Well, you know how they are.going for the emotion and oversimplifying the issue. How many of these experiments are even necessary? Certainly not showing what they do, how they are funded and how the licensing of their "altruistic" work nets them a tidy sum. This billboard poses the issue as an either/or.save the child or the rat.

"It's a remarkably banal list of ordinary events in an animal-care facility." Failed to ensure that experiments minimized discomfort, distress and pain to the animals. In one case, up to 17 kittens from three litters died or were euthanized -- with no experiment data generated -- after injections to induce hydrocephalus.

If they are "only" animals, if they are beasts which abstract not, then my comparison is a piece of sentimental foolishness. Like other mammals, they are capable of strong emotions. The natural experiment must have been tried very infrequently, at least recently. But chimpanzees can abstract.

Beloved family pet Dalmatian, Pepper, is stolen, and after several weeks of searching is discovered to have been experimented on at a hospital and died on the table when researchers tried to implant her with an experimental cardiac pacemaker. By the end of my time as researcher, I was performing behavioral experiments on humans.
