Well, you know how they are.going for the emotion and oversimplifying the issue. Certainly not showing what they do, how they are funded and how the licensing of their "altruistic" work nets them a tidy sum. This billboard poses the issue as an either/or.save the child or the rat. It's not that simple.

Discouraged the filing of health status reports to staff veterinarians -- "even when animals were clearly in distress.'' » Failed to provide adequate housing and management for animals that, in some instances, led to unnecessary stress, pain, injury or death. Certainly a case to follow.

If they are "only" animals, if they are beasts which abstract not, then my comparison is a piece of sentimental foolishness. Like other mammals, they are capable of strong emotions. Tags: animal experimentation animal research. But chimpanzees can abstract. They have certainly committed no crimes.

Actually, I didn't quit neuroscience as a result of the experiences described, but I did quit working with animals. By the end of my time as researcher, I was performing behavioral experiments on humans. But that's neither here nor there -- I'm very supportive of animal research in principle.
