Like a "BBQ, pony rides and a petting zoo!" Naturally, upon reading such words, my stomach turned and I immediately thought of making plans to be away from the house that day so I wouldn't have to see any of the festivities or try to negotiate walking the dogs around them. It's not like these people care about animals.

Someone had called in an animal cruelty report. I had a couple of dogs when I was a kid, but I mostly grew up with cats. I believe that a feral may never be a lap cat and they may never even let you pet them. But I'm no dog expert. Is this a legitimate reason to put a dog down or is this just BS?

A farm-animal breeder who ran what a prosecutor called "the zoo from hell" was convicted Tuesday of animal cruelty. A jury in West Haverstraw deliberated less than two hours before convicting Robert Everle of all 13 charges of torturing, injuring and starving animals. And people wonder why I'm so disappointed by humans.

Many pet owners are able to enjoy their pets for the entire duration of the animal’s life. This is great news for owners who have pets who have a long life span, such as dogs, cats and many other creatures. However, it becomes a problem for the animal when the owner decides that he can no longer keep the pet.

BSL (Breed-Specific Legislation) is the canine equivalent of racial profiling, banning certain dog breeds that have been labeled “dangerous.” Focusing on the breeds, instead of putting the blame where it belongs — on the individual dogs and their irresponsible owners — is discrimination in no uncertain terms.

11pm: Tuck foster dog (aka Munchkin – after 34 they’ve all become “Munchkin”) in on the couch and head off to bed. 9:30am: Take Munchkin and forever dog to the dog park. Forever dog runs around like a maniac. 1:30pm: Hop in the car with my mom, forever dog, and Munchkin. Tuck Munchkin back in and go back to bed.
