10,000 Birds is having trouble with our website platform. When you are an American expatriate who lives, and birds, in Mexico, it is a topsy-turvy world. One or or two of these cute birds visited me every day throughout the winter. But alas, my garden Wilsons have not been seen here on the 4th of April.

Laughing at you, not with you

Presumably, in the early days of ornithology, some scientists spent most of their time transcribing bird calls. The Black-faced Laughingthrush (Longcanggou, Sichuan) is a real beauty, though this photo does not fully do the bird justice. This post shows some of them. It’s the eyes, I guess.

Are we going to bird in the fog? But I cannot notice the breeder #2! Scanning carefully, small birds occasionally fly from one tree to the other, but I cannot discover them in the foliage! Still, it’s a new bird for my country list. Alas, I am not among them. Still, we are lucky. It is somewhere in those willows.
