Many dogs are rescued out of abusive or traumatic situations, causing them to exhibit a wide variety of emotional and behavioral problems. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t make great companions for the right adoptive family. Juliet and Foxy, a Terrier mix and a Chow Chow/Cocker Spaniel mix, are my rescues.

With the growing awareness of pet overpopulation more and more families are choosing to adopt a shelter dog and save a life. When adopting a rescue there are added considerations on selecting the right dog for your lifestyle. The longer a dog is at the shelter the more it will impact their emotional state.

I decided to rescue a dog in desperate need, and planned on finding a home for it after my road trip was over. I didn’t have the adoption fee money until payday, but by then it would have been too late. Last January, I was on a road trip and wanted protection as a solo female. So she was mine, for free.
