I am checking the grass for any flash of white and soon my suspicion is confirmed: Cattle Egrets (cover photo)! Along the track leading there are numerous Crested Larks (by cattle corrals), Spotted Flycatchers and Whinchats (in reedbeds), until I reach the sea and climb the dyke to spot many grassy islets.

Halls Creek Poo Ponds

It has a small population of approximately 1100 people and is a major hub for the local indigenous people and for the cattle industry. Old Halls Creek as a town-site was abandoned by 1954 and everybody had moved to the new site of Halls Creek where an airfield had been built in 1948. Pink-eared Ducks.
