Here’s his third stop: In June of 2013, we arrived in Helsinki, the capital and largest city in Finland, and our third destination on our European getaway. And, as appears to be the case in most cities in Finland, wildlife and nature is only steps away! And despite the name, this book covers most of Finland, not just the south.

I photographed it at Gorleston, on the Suffolk coast, on 5 September 2020, but I discovered that bird had been rung, as an adult, at nearby Great Yarmouth on 16 November 2013, so it was probably already nine years old, and could well have been older.

In June of 2013 he embarked on a whirlwind tour of Europe, spotting birds in Iceland , Russia , Finland , and, as you’re about to find out, Sweden: We took a quick flight from Helsinki and arrived in Stockholm, Sweden, arriving at our fourth country on this trip. I also spotted a Grey Heron as we walked back to our hotel.
