This year is the eighteenth year since we discovered our first Pied Oystercatcher nest on Cable Beach in Broome and it didn’t take us long to realise that they are not at all successful at raising young due to egg and chick predation. He last raised a chick successfully in 2016 and has nested in this area since 2008.

When zoo keepers saw that the baby was not eating and having trouble gaining weight, they made the decision to hand-raise him. The new cub was born at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens to a mother who wasn’t able to care for him. Now, at a little more than two pounds, the cub is eating well, getting stronger and eagerly exploring his new home.

Hawk watchers and birders who look at hawks (not always the same group!) There are probably more identification guides about raptors than there are for any other bird group. If the accipiter swivels its head to look at a group of hawk watchers without moving its body, it’s a Cooper’s.

If migration evolved many times in birds, then it would be worth asking if it evolved in birds more often than in other groups of vertebrates. Another question this raises has to do with migration itself. &# 2 This is not a simple question and it is not trivial. Consider the implications. Those two questions are not mutually exclusive.

Nonetheless, they adjusted their behavior to allow Babyl to remain with the group. In December 2005 a 50-foot, 50-ton, female humpback whale got tangled in crab lines and was in danger of drowning. Caledonian crows live in small family groups and youngsters learn to fashion and use tools by watching adults. A Grateful Whale.
